Welcome to the 2024 Arkansas Track Club Youth Training Camp. This year’s camp will be held in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado! This 8-day training camp will expose youth athletes to what it’s like to eat, sleep, train, and recover like professional athletes. Each day will be built around 1-2 training sessions with special emphasis put on nutrition and how it fuels both proper training and proper recovery. All meals and drinks will be provided for the duration of the trip. Athletes will learn how to take their pre and post workout game to a new level to ensure quality recovery and adaptation.
Our entire first day of camp will be spent on the road traveling to Colorado Springs. We will stop at various locations throughout the drive to “shake out” the legs and enjoy our on-the-road meals. Each day will entail a quality training session or two followed by some recovery work and free (fun) time. And as always, there will be delicious food specially prepared by the youth themselves under the guidance of camp dietitian! In addition to the training, nutrition, and recovery work, we will take some time to visit some nearby Universities (Colorado College, University of Colorado Colorado Spring) and the US Olympic Training Center while in the area. The athletes will leave camp having gained a tremendous amount of knowledge regarding nutrition, training, and recovery. As always, have your questions ready, so we can cover as much information as possible throughout the week!

We will be staying at a large private home in the mountains west of Colorado Springs. Right out the door we can access trails for miles and miles as well as a short drive to downtown Colorado Springs for quick shopping trips. Most of the week’s workouts will be trail runs or hikes up challenging mountains. We will explore some of the most beautiful trails in North America. Additionally the team will have daily strength sessions as well as focused group recovery sessions learning the ins and outs of self active release and soft tissue work.
We will have daily hands-on lessons from team dietitian. The athletes will learn how to prepare delicious meals that are nutrient dense. Topics covered will be day-to-day nutrition, sports nutrition, how nutrition affects your training and racing, and nutrient timing for performance and recovery. Athletes will have a great opportunity to address any nutrition related issues directly with dietitian and then put what they learn into practice while under our teams guidance.
