THE BASICS
The Arkansas Track Club Road Team is a season-based training program designed for runners who want structure, coaching, and a supportive team environment while preparing for road races. Each season runs from May 1 through the beginning of April and supports athletes racing distances from the mile to the half marathon, with flexibility for runners pursuing longer goals as well.
Members receive a customized training plan through a training app that syncs directly with their smart watch, so they know exactly what pace to run during every long run, interval, and stride. While most training is completed independently whenever it best fits your day, the team follows the same weekly workout rhythm—making it easy to connect with teammates who train at a similar pace.
What makes the Arkansas Track Club different is the depth of coaching behind the program. Road Team athletes benefit from a staff that works with Junior Athletes, Elite competitors, and everyday runners alike, led by coaches Erin Warren, Shawn Wierick, and Nicholas Huisman. Their experience coaching athletes at every level helps bring elite-level knowledge and thoughtful training to runners of all paces and goals.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best, preparing for your first race, or simply looking for consistent training with a strong community, the Road Team provides the guidance and structure to help you improve.
THE DETAILS
Joining the Team
Registration for the Road Team opens March 15 and closes April 30 for the upcoming season, which runs from May 1 through the beginning of April. If registration has already closed, you can still reach out through our contact form to join the waitlist or explore private coaching options with the Arkansas Track Club.
Once you join the team, we’ll help you get everything set up so you’re ready to train when the season begins! You’ll hear from Coach Erin, who leads the Road Team. She’ll send over a questionnaire to learn about your running experience, current fitness level, and goals for the season.
From there, you will receive instructions on completing your timed trial, which helps our coaches determine your personalized training paces. Those paces are used to build your custom training plan for the season.
As part of getting set up, you’ll also:
- Gain access to the team training platform app
- Receive your specific workouts in your smart watch
- Gain access to the Road Team communication app for group chat, announcements, and shared calendars
- Request access to the members-only Strava group to follow teammates and share runs
The goal is to make joining the team simple so you can focus on what matters most—training and racing.
Training & Season Structure
Road Team athletes follow a shared weekly training rhythm designed to help runners stay consistent while preparing for races throughout the season. Each athlete receives a personalized training plan built around the same weekly structure, making it easy for teammates to coordinate runs and train together.
Typical training weeks include a combination of:
- Aerobic runs
- Long runs
- Speed work
Because the team follows the same weekly schedule, runners are encouraged to connect with teammates who train at a similar pace to complete workouts together.
Sunday Social Run
Each week the team comes together for the Sunday Social Run, a standing group run where members are encouraged to complete their long run together. It’s a chance to train alongside teammates, meet other members of the club, and enjoy the community side of the sport.
While athletes are free to complete their training whenever it works best for them, the Sunday run has become a consistent gathering point for the Road Team throughout the season.
Racing Together
At the start of each season, the club publishes a Road Team race schedule that includes goal races throughout the year. Athletes register for races individually, but the team gathers before races to connect, warm up, and support each other on race day.
Many members choose to run several of the scheduled races together, creating shared goals and memorable race-day experiences throughout the season.
THE GOALS
The Arkansas Track Club Road Team is built around a few simple goals that guide how we train, race, and support each other throughout the season.
Consistent Training
Progress in running comes from consistency. The Road Team provides the structure and accountability that help runners stay on track week after week. With a clear training plan and a team following the same workout rhythm, it becomes easier to build habits that lead to long-term improvement.
Personal Improvement
Every athlete joins the Road Team with different goals. Some are chasing personal records, others are preparing for their first race, and many simply want to become stronger, healthier runners. With personalized training and experienced coaching, athletes can pursue their goals with a plan designed specifically for them.
Community & Accountability
Running can be a solo sport, but it doesn’t have to be. The Road Team creates opportunities for athletes to train together, support one another, and share race-day experiences throughout the season. The friendships and encouragement that come from being part of a team often become one of the most valuable parts of the program.
Enjoy the Process
Training for races should be challenging, but it should also be rewarding and fun. The Road Team helps runners stay motivated by combining structured training with a strong sense of community, making the journey toward each race just as meaningful as the finish line.

THE RACES
Every season, our Arkansas running club targets select races to help athletes train with purpose, race with confidence, and peak at the right time. Below is our priority race calendar—designed for growth, performance, and team connection.

While athletes are welcome to race outside this list, we encourage smart race selection over frequent racing. Prioritizing key events leads to stronger results, more consistent training, and fewer injuries. Priority A races are peak performances with full team support. Priority B races are tune-up efforts used to test pacing, fitness, and strategy. Priority C races are fun or optional opportunities without structured team focus. If you’re ready to join an Arkansas running club that blends structure, strategy, and community, this roadmap shows exactly how we do it.
